Service Unit Traditions

Check out the calendar for specific details about these traditions.

Ice Cream Social

October

We kick off the beginning of the Girl Scout year with an ice cream social and a recruitment drive to welcome current and new Girl Scouts and Girl Scout Troops.

Food Drive

November

We address food insecurity for our neighbors by gathering food donations for the Santee Food Bank and the San Diego Food Bank.

Christmas Caroling

December

Magnolia Trails troops visit Lanterncrest during the winter holidays to sing and bring joy to the residents of Lanterncrest.

Cookie Kick-Off

January

We launch the cookie season with a service-unit celebration. Here, the girls learn about the cookie varieties, set goals, and get excited about the season.

We Care Bags

February

We gather items for small gift bags to brighten the day of seniors who participate in Meals on Wheels.

World Thinking Day

February

On this day, we honor our global community by doing activities around the year’s chosen theme.

Encampment Weekends

dates vary

Each year, we host 1-2 encampment weekends with our fellow Magnolia Trails troops. The dates and locations are determined by council.
